Sephora Collection Rouge Balm SPF 20 Review

If I think of the Sephora Collection Rouge Balm SPF 20 as a lipstick, then I am not disappointed. If I think of them as a lip balm, then I am let down. So I guess it's all about expectations.

I got the shades Delicate Pink

And Mild Plum.

These come housed in a tube with a plastic casing that matches the shade of the lipstick. The bullet itself is slanted and swivels up like a traditional lipstick.

Delicate pink looks more pigmented in the tube, but it goes on as a milky, pale pink. It's almost unnoticeable, but it does manage to settle into liplines somewhat.

Mild Plum is a semi-sheer plummy berry. It's gorgeous! It leaves a stain after it wears off, but it also left some small flakes behind.

These balm lipsticks have a gel-like feeling and go on very easily. If you are sensitive to scent, then be warned that they they smell like gummy worms. I didn't find it bothersome because I think gummy worms are delicious, but it's good to know if you prefer fragrance free lip products. They don't bleed outside the lipline, which is fabulous. These both last about and hour on me and then have me reaching for my Aquaphor. These balms have a fair bit of slip and I think I just rub my lips together so much that the balm rubs away.

Here are some lovely swatches! Mild Plum is on top and Delicate Pink is on the bottom.

I think the Sephora Collection Rouge Balms are nice if you think of them like sheer lipsticks with SPF 20. I mean, that added sun protection is pretty cool, right? I would recommend some of the more pigmented shades, though, because Delicate Pink hardly shows up at all. Mild Plum is gorgeous and my pick of the two shades that I got.

I'll be keeping these, but I'm kind of "meh" about them, so I won't repurchase or get more shades.
