I decided to finally just give it a shot and got the combination/oily formula in the shade "Buff" or 150.
The container is glass with a plastic cap. It has a pump, which is relatively new, because I know many reviewers have complained about the lack of the pump in the past.
Revlon's description of the Combination/Oily version of Colorstay is as follows, "America’s most-loved longwear foundation, now with a convenient pump applicator and SPF. Flawless, matte coverage that lasts up to 24 hours. Comfortable, lightweight formula specifically made for combination or oily skin to control oil absorption and shine."
Now I don't need my foundation to wear for 24 hours. I'm not that much of a rockstar! I just want it to be matte, not break me out and look pretty. This foundation also has SPF 15, which I also don't need because I wear my own SPF every day. However, the sunscreen in Revlon Colorstay is physical SPF, so I am happy about that. It has both zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. So it could cause flashback in photos, but I am pretty pale, so I never worry about that!
It's oil free and doesn't have any ingredients that specifically concerned me for potential breakouts.
But how does it look?
Here's my skin without any makeup:
And here I am with Revlon Colorstay Combination/Oily foundation:
Here is what it looks like swatched on my arm.

But how does it feel, look and wear? It feels very comfortable. Once I apply it with my Beauty Blender, I forget that I'm wearing it. It doesn't itch or feel heavy at all. I get light to medium coverage, (depending on how much I sheer it out or build it up) and it looks quite flawless. I think the shade match with Buff is perfect for my NW20 skin. I lean more neutral and Buff seems pretty neutral to me. The finish is matte and you could probably get away without finishing powder, but I like to use powder because I feel like it sets everything.
As I said, I haven't tried to wear it for 24 hours, so I can't comment on that. I feel like it stays nice all day on my cheeks, but my oil does come through on my chin at about 3 hours. I can blot and re-powder and this makes everything look matte again. At about 5-6 hours I need to blot again. I notice that this foundation can emphasize pores somewhat after blotting. However, I only notice the pores when my face is about an inch from the mirror. Also, I do think this transfers. It's probably mostly due to my oils, but when I blot, some of the foundation comes off, too.
If were going out in the evening after wearing this foundation all day, I would just re-do my chin since that is the area that seems to break down the most. I did this the other day and it worked fine. I washed my chin, moisturized and then re-applied the Colorstay and applied loose powder and I was ready to go!
I also noticed that this foundation looks cakey on my forehead and in between my brows. So to avoid that, I just don't put any on those areas. (Although, in the photo above, I do have the foundation on my whole face.) They are not major areas of concern for me, so just finishing with loose powder gives me enough coverage and then I don't have to worry about a patchy or cakey appearance.
Even though there are some cons, overall I love Revlon Colorstay Combination/Oily foundation! It's a perfect shade match, it has buildable coverage, it doesn't break me out, it's affordable and it's matte! It can emphasize pores over time, but this is only noticeable when looking at my skin very close up.
So this foundation is a keeper! I'm so glad! I'm doing the foundation happy dance!
