Urban Decay One & Done Review

I was really hesitant to try Urban Decay's One & Done when it first came out because it has chemical sunscreen in it. Typically, chemical sunscreens make me break out. So, I avoided it. But then, I ordered some of the Vice lipsticks and ended up with a One and Done sampler. I decided to throw caution to the wind and give it a shot!

Urban Decay's site says that, "Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector combines all the benefits of skin treatment and protection with the coverage of a sheer foundation." They add that it will, "Instantly blur imperfections and even out skin tone—for beautifully perfected, ultra definition skin. (Naked Skin One & Done gets the job done so well, there’s no need for foundation.) Our high-tech, weightless formula provides all-day wear and feels amazing. But the best part is how it transforms the look of your skin! Light-diffusing spheres instantly help make flaws seem to disappear. Over time, pores look smaller and skin appears noticeably firmer and more radiant."

The directions for use indicate that you can "wear alone for gorgeous skin". Or, "for extra hydration, apply after your moisturizer." So my understanding is that this is like a BB cream/tinted moisturizer. I've tried wearing it alone without moisturizer, which was not enough hydration for my skin. I tried it over moisturizer and SPF, which worked nicely. Then one day I added UD Naked Skin foundation over it and another day I added Lily Lolo Mineral Powder Foundation over it. Both worked great! My favorite way to wear One & Done is over moisturizer, applied with fingers, with loose powder on top.

I got the shade Light, which is supposed to work for skin tones that are 0.5 - 3.0 in the Naked foundation. I was skeptical because it looks quite dark out of the tube. Thankfully, it sheers out on the skin. So much so, that when I tried the sample of light-medium, it actually worked pretty well, too. But I prefer Light, so that's what I bought.

The coverage is sheer, but it does blur pores and makes my skin look like I've added a subtle Instagram filter. The finish is skin-like and very natural. I still like to add a dusting of loose powder to set it.

I don't notice any scent and the texture is like a moisturizer or creamy foundation. It does feel weightless once on the skin. It is comfortable to wear and lasts beautifully all day. I do get oily on my chin after a couple hours, but blotting and re-powdering solves that problem.

One & Done has SPF 20 with both zinc oxide and octinoxate providing sun protection. I was worried the octinoxate would irritate my skin, but it hasn't at all. I have been testing this for a couple weeks and have not had any breakouts! That is great news! As far as using this alone for sunscreen, I used two to three pumps to really get an SPF of 20 all over my face and neck. Used in that way, I think you would get enough protection. I feel more comfortable adding an additional sunscreen underneath and then have just used one and half to two pumps of the One & Done.

Here are some comparisons to other foundations that I have. Don't be alarmed that the One and Done is so much darker than the others - it really sheers out when applied.

I have been pleasantly surprised by Urban Decay's One and Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector! I love that it feels lightweight and looks so natural! It's a great my-skin-but-better product for summer! I think it's cool that it's so versatile and also so quick to apply, which is great when you're in a hurry. I definitely recommend giving it a try!
