Lipstick Queen lipstick in the shade Medieval is on sale online at Ulta today for $16! It's regularly $24. According to Poppy King, Lipstick Queen Founder, "Medieval is the red that flatters all complexions. Impossible to detect
as anything other than a sensual melancholic hue."
I was debating whether to get this lipstick and so I decided to look at the Lipstick Queen lippies that I currently own. Then I realized that I already have Medieval!
Duh! I got it in a set of three at Anthropologie a while back and never really looked at the names. So, ahem, I won't be needing to buy it today. However, if you're considering it, here are my thoughts...
Medieval comes in a gorgeous maroon tube with "Lipstick Queen" written in gold on the cap. The tube is metal and feels somewhat weighty in the hand.
The bullet itself looks very red in the tube.
However, it's incredibly sheer when worn.
Here are my lips without anything on them.
And here's what it looks like when I'm wearing Medieval.
So the look is very subtle. This lippie feels and wears like a tinted lip balm. It goes on smoothly and has a lot of slip. It's easy to apply because it's so sheer. It last for about two hours and feels lightly hydrating. It wears off evenly, but as it fades, it makes my lips feel dry and I have to reach for my Aquaphor. I do have incredibly chapped lips, though, so this may not be the case for everyone.
I think this would be a good pick if you're looking for something easy to wear that isn't very pigmented. At $24, the price is a bit steep, so I wouldn't buy it again at the regular price just because it's so incredibly sheer. But if you've been curious about it, then $16 is certainly a nice deal! If I didn't already own it, I'd certainly buy it for the sale price!
