Tartelette In Bloom Palette Review

Lately, I've been wanting to explore some lines that seem really popular, but that I'm not that familiar with. Tarte is one of those brands. So since I love eyeshadow palettes, I snapped up the Tartelette In Bloom palette during the Sephora sale in April.

Tarelette In Bloom has stunning packaging. The box matches the palette design.

The back of the box is gold and reflective (and hard to photograph!)

The palette artwork is shiny, brightly colored flower petals with gold script.

The inside of the palette has a mirror and twelve eyeshadow shades.

The eyeshadows are a mix of mattes and shimmers in a variety of warm neutrals.

I was excited to try this palette because it seemed to get some really good reviews and a lot of people seemed to love it!

For me, it was a mixed bag. Charmer and Smarty Pants were both great matte shades that I would use as all over base shadows. They were buttery and easy to apply. Jetsetter, Smarty Pants and Sweetheart would all be nice matte transition shades, but they were all way too warm for me (I'm NW20). I felt like they made me look a bit ill. Rocker, Firecracker and Funny Girl are the shimmers out of the bunch. I applied them over Too Faced Glitter Glue to avoid fallout. They all looked fine, but aren't that unique, color wise. Rebel would be a good matte shade to deepen the crease, but again, it's way too warm for me. Smokeshow, Activist and Leader all worked well as matte liner shades.

I was able to get these to work by blending a lot and tweaking the rest of my makeup, but it seemed like work. I want to enjoy applying my eyeshadow and not have to hustle to make it look decent. These shades are all very dupeable, so I don't feel like I'd be missing these colors if I returned the palette.

Also, this is slightly petty, but I hate the names of the colors. I especially hate the names Activist and Leader. I get that they're trying to illustrate different types of women, but I just find it irritating. Maybe I am just a grumpy, old hermit.

Here are the swatches. L to R top row features Charmer, Jetsetter, Rocker and Smokeshow. The second row is Flower Child, Smarty Pants, Firecracker, and Activist. The bottom row has Funny Girl, Sweetheart, Rebel and Leader.

Here is a shot of me wearing some of the shades from this palette. All over lid up to brow is Flower Child, brow bone and inner corner is Charmer, Sweetheart is in the crease and on lower lash line, Funny Girl is on the inner third, Rocker is on the middle 3rd, and Leader was applied wet as liner on the upper lash line.

I think collection of eyeshadows would be great if you are warm toned. It's nice to have some shimmers and mattes in the same palette and there is a good choice of light, medium and dark shades for a variety of looks. It just isn't a palette that I feel like I would reach for on a regular basis. So back to Sephora it goes!
